3D CAD/CAM for wood machining

Taglio 3DJ is the first 5 axis milling CAM in continuous expressly developed for the wood machining. While incorporating the most sophisticated computational techniques, the machining can be executed by means of simple control instruments.

Perfectly integrated with the models created by artistic CADs, it is an adaptive CAD, able to generate simple or complex shapes, to compose and manipulate them at will in order to obtain forms which are always different.

Versions and options

Taglio3DJ is available in two versions:

  • Taglio3DJ 3 for machines with up to 3 axes interpolated in space and 2 positioning axes.
  • Taglio3DJ 5 for machines with up to 5 axes continuously interpolated in space.

Both versions are Full-Function. There are no limitations on the types of machining or on the functions for creating and managing the tools.

From the simple engraving pantographs for the realisation of bas-relief, up to large portal machines for 5-axis milling of sculptures, all are managed with appropriate optimized Post Processors.

It is possible to switch from the minor to the major version at any time via the activation of license codes.

Views

The software is designed to enable 3D machining in the simplest and most intuitive manner possible. The tool which makes this goal possible is the use of VIEWS

  • Faces of the containment cube
  • Projection from point of view
  • From rotations definition

Generation of Macro Surfaces

It is possible to generate directly in the CAM some preset surfaces (macros)

  • Section plan: Edges of chimneys, frames with constant sections etc…
  • Concave Convex: Columns / grooves
  • 2 sections plan: Washbasins, sinks, indentations in blocks
  • Extrusion / Ruled: Machining with fixed section disc and extrusion of variable profile (covers, curved coatings etc…)
  • Tapering: Shower trays, draining boards
  • Turning: Columns, spirals, machining on blocks on rotated faces
  • Parametric surfaces

Transformations

  • Rendering of the material on the part
  • “Resting” of a surface on an another
  • Duplicate instance
  • Curve Plans: definition of plans on which the curve is inserted
  • Deformation along profiles of any kind

Machining

  • Roughing with concentric/parallel passes
  • Roughing by coring/helical drilling
  • Roughing from previous residual rough part
  • Roughing around Z
  • Brushing around Z
  • Copying finishing
  • Concentric pass finishing
  • Processing containment profiles
  • Occupation rough / Rough from STL
  • Dynamic rough
  • Features (Compass saws / Spiral holes with drills etc.. )
  • Contouring of profiles
  • Contouring of sections

Production cycle control

  • Positioning of the part on the bench with run control
  • Tool repositioning to avoid collisions with the rough
  • Automatic strategies for part skirting
  • Edit of part repositioning

Tools

In addition to using the standard processing tools, the software was developed with the main purpose of being able to use the disc tools.
This has been made completely free for both work directions and for the directions of positioning on the part. The disc can be then used for both cutting and brushing and for inclined passes along all rotation axes.

Types of tools that can be used:

  • Milling cutters (flat, spherical, conic, toric) 3/5 axes with TCP
  • 3D Disk
  • 3D Disk (five axes) TCP for disc
